COVID Response

SD Golf Course Community:

As you may be aware, Governor Noem issued an Executive Order putting additional restrictions on business activity in the state. The following rules apply to all South Dakota golf courses, including the Lakes Golf Course:

  1. NEW* You may share a golf cart event if you do not live in the same household
  2. Try keeping score on phone apps instead of paper and pencil
  3. NO congregating
  4. Always say hi to Adam
  5. 6 feet social distancing at all times
  6. Don’t touch flags
  7. Only one group on a tee box at a time
  8. Always say hi to Adam
  9. No more than 5 people in the clubhouse at a time (we encourage you to use the window)
  10. We encourage the use of credit card over cash
  11. Our staff will retrieve your beverages, snacks, and range balls
  12. Stay within the marked parameters inside the clubhouse
  13. Always say hi to Adam

We want to do everything we can to keep our golf courses open and make them a safe and viable recreation and wellness option during this public health crisis. We have worked together with the South Dakota Golf Course Superintendents Association to contact the Governor to let her know that the golf course industry in the state is taking proactive measures to ensure that our operations are in compliance with all public health directives.

I cannot stress this point enough. If we want to keep our courses open and safe, we ALL need to work to ensure that every course has a plan in place to be in full compliance with the Governor’s Executive Order and directives from local authorities. And beyond that, we need to educate our golfers on the need to comply with course policies while on the course. If there are reports of courses or golfers not complying, it will be more difficult to make the case to keep courses open and golfers playing.
